Burke Family Postpones Presser In Salt Lake

Which, sadly, only links itself to bad news...

Today was supposed to hold an update in the condition of skiier Sarah Burke, but instead came a press release...

"Last night, Rory Bushfield, Sarah's husband, and members of her family met with physicians to discuss the results of Sarah's most recent neurological tests and assessments. Based on the information they received, we regret to inform you that they have decided to cancel today's press conference in order for further tests to be conducted this morning and in the coming days. The family wants to express their deep appreciation for the overwhelming support Sarah has received from all over the world. They ask that everyone continue to keep Sarah and Rory in their prayers. Rory and Sarah's family remain at the hospital."

A day after the accident in Park City at their half-pipe, doctors at the University of Utah said they repaired a tear to a "vertebral" artery that caused bleeding on her brain. It is located in the neck and supplies blood to the brainstem and the back part of the brain that controls activities like balance and sight. The vertebral artery is one of four major arteries that supply bllod to the brain.

The family is now referring people to Burke's website, www.sarahburkeski.com, for any future updates. The situation could not necessarily change for days or weeks...

Here's Cristina Rendon's original piece on the accident from ABC4 in Salt Lake City...
