BUZZER BEATER: A Goaltending Call By Central Arkansas Cost The Bears The Game, Parker Wentz A Hero For Abilene Christian

What a wild ending Saturday night in Abilene, Texas.  Tirrel Brown knocked down a lay up with three seconds left to give the Bears a 72-71 lead over Abilene Christian.

Wildcat guard Parker Wentz took the inbounds pass and drove the length of the floor and threw up a wild lay up but Brown, who had just hit a potential game winner for UCA, pinned the shot on the backboard and the goaltending call was a winner for Abilene Christian.

Here's the play.

Thanks ACU Athletics

"Our guys just kept battling," ACU head coach Joe Golding said.  "We've had a lot of tough things happen to this team over the course of the last couple of weeks, but these guys that suited up (today) just kept believing and playing and working to win this game."

"It's disappointing because we thought we had two winnable games on this road trip," UCA head coach Clarence Finley said.  "We got over it (the hump) today but we just couldn't get the stops at the end of the ballgame."

This was a really important win for Abilene Christian.  It was the Wildcats first win over a Division I team since 1984 when ACU defeated Pepperdine 93-89.

It had been 40 years since Abilene Christian had defeated a Southland Conference team.

UCA learned a hard lesson, never touch the ball on the way down.
