Sentence Is 58 Years For Sean Taylor Murder

((HT: WSVN-TV))

Eric Rivera was sentenced to 58 years for the murder of NFL star Sean Taylor in a botched armed robbery at Taylor's home in 2007.

He was originally sentenced with first-degree murder, but since the jury could not agree whether or not Rivera pulled the trigger of the gun that killed Taylor- despite a taped confession saying he did.

Rivera and the four other co-defendants went into the Taylor home thinking it was empty, but Taylor's family was sleeping inside. Taylor surprised them and Rivera shot him...

One of the other co-defendants pleaded out and is serving a 29 year sentence. Three others have pled not guilty and are awaiting trial...

Here's the story from the courtroom...
