Kent State starting center Jason Bitsko was found dead Wednesday morning in his off-campus apartment.

A cause of death hasn't been determined.

Coaches and players became worried when the rising senior didn't show up for morning practice. Bitsko's roommate went and found him in the room and immediately called 911.

Joel Nielsen, the school's Athletic Director said "We are heartbroken by the news of Jason's death. Our thought's and prayers go out to his family, friends, teammates and everyone who's life he touched"

Coach Paul Haynes added "Our players, coaches and everyone involved with our team are hurting because he was family. As a team, we will come together and get through this one day at a time.

The 21-year old redshirt junior started all 12-games for the Golden Flashes in 2013 and was expected to be a starter this upcoming season.

After telling the team what happened, Haynes cancelled football activities for the day. Kent State opens their season 10 days from now at home vs. Ohio.
