Uh Oh: Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin Take Shots at NFL Media Policy

Oh, this is not going to end well. But it is quite a good laugh never the less.

Check out Seattle Seahawks DB Richard Sherman and teammate, WR Doug Baldwin making their statement about the NFL's attempt at a media policy.

The pair were making a point after teammate Marshawn Lynch was fined $100,000 for avoiding Seahawks media availability 6 weeks in a row.

The Tacoma News Journal shares the video:

Sherman, a spokesperson for Beats headphones makes a very good point. Players don't get paid for talking to the media. They get paid for sponsorships. Sherman and others have been fined for wearing Beats, because they aren't an NFL sponsor. The players get angry about that.

He's not wrong, and it's a fine line that the NFL has to dance trying to accommodate local media requests with their sponsors.

The league and the media have clashed before as the NFL has tried at various time to limit accessibility. It's failed because the local reporters fought back.

But the players should not be forced...or fined if they choose not to talk. That should be their right. There are players that will always talk and having spent a good chunk of our career in Sports, sometimes you take whatever you can get.

And if you have a specific request, you go through media relations. If they still choose to not speak to you, you find someone else to do a story on.
